We have all woken up with the alarm buzzing wanting nothing more than to hit the off button, turn over and drift back to sleep. However, there are very few days where that is actually possible. Life can become so busy and overwhelming sometimes that just getting out the door on time is hard work. Luckily, with a little preparation and planning the night before, we can turn those crazy mornings into productive stress free ones. Here are 6 suggestions to accomplish just that.
1.) Tidy up the house
Throughout the day the house can get a little out of order, doing a quick tidying up can make the world of difference in staying on top of things. Don’t feel you have to do this alone. Get the whole family involved to make it as quick and easy as possible.
2.) Make a to do list
When we make a list of task to accomplish the next day it helps us to be able to rest easier at night. It also helps your day to run smoother when you know exactly what needs to be accomplished. Make a point however to create a realistic to do list with only 5-8 tasks so you don’t get overwhelmed.
3.) Lay out all clothes needed for tomorrow
When you look good, you feel good so set aside 15 minutes every night to plan your outfit for the next day. It’s also a good idea to lay out your workout clothes or prepare your gym bag. This not only helps cut down on wasted time in the morning, it assures you will actually get your workout in.
4.) Prepare tomorrows breakfast & lunch
They don’t just say breakfast is the most important meal of the day for nothing, it’s because it actually is. However, it’s also the easiest meal to skip when you’re in a hurry. Preparing something the night before helps this from happening. Along with preparing breakfast it is best to go ahead and prepare lunch too. This assures you get a healthy meal that is easy on the wallet.
5.) Gather everything you will need to take with you
I don’t know about you but some days I have a lot of stuff to bring with me. Gathering it all together and placing it by the door, or better yet… in the car, makes for a much smoother morning.
6.) Get a good night’s sleep
There is nothing that is going to make it easier to get out of bed in the morning than a good night’s sleep. It is recommended we get 7 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. For some of us this is easier than others but it never hurts to try. Set a bed time for yourself and even put an alarm on your phone for it. Crawl in bed with a book, maybe light a candle, or spray some sheet spray, something to let your body know it is time to rest.
