Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body to produce profound healing effects

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body. These Acu-points balance the nervous and endocrine systems, producing profound healing effects. Just as you connect a keyboard to a computer, acupuncture needles activate the body’s natural function. This is why acupuncture treats a wide variety of symptoms with almost no side effects. Acupuncture has been used to decrease pain and restore function to the human body for thousands of years, and over 10,000 peer reviewed studies document the benefits of acupuncture.

Dr. Barnett, the founder of Orlando Acupuncture is an expert in a several styles of acupuncture. His mastery of these methods produces effects that can only be described as miraculous. Orlando Acupuncture patients are often surprised to discover just how relaxing an acupuncture treatment can be. By using Acu-points on the arms and legs, patients remain comfortable during the treatment. Dr Barnett’s unique style of Acupuncture provides effective treatment for complex and chronic cases, which may not respond to other types of treatment, or other styles of acupuncture.

A consultation with Dr. Barnett is required to find out if you are a candidate for Acupuncture. If you are determined to be a candidate, we can usually perform your first treatment the same day

What to expect

Your experience at Orlando Acupuncture is totally unique and very relaxing

After your consultation appointment, we will take a comprehensive history of your health concerns. We will consider the overall state of the body, not just a particular symptom. Your initial visit may include other diagnostic techniques such as a physical exam, range of motion testing, and other specialized assessments based on your condition.

After gathering this information, the patient gets comfortable in one of our treatment rooms, acupuncture is performed, and you rest for 15- 40 minutes. Sometimes heat or electrostimulation is applied while you are resting.

It is best to wear shorts or loose clothing so that the arms and legs below the elbows and knees are accessible. It is also best not to eat a heavy meal or engage in strenuous activity just before or after your treatment. It is important, however, that you have eaten something the day of your treatment so that your body has nutrients to work with.

Success Story

The number of treatments needed to achieve your health goals varies significantly person to person. Several factors, including the severity of the problem and how long it has been there, are part of what determines how many treatments a specific symptom or condition will need. At your consultation appointment our clinic director will meet with you and determine if you are a candidate for our care.

We will recommend the therapies that will give you the best result. We will also let you know your prognosis, that is, when to expect to see improvement as well as how much improvement to expect. Acupuncture is a process, and like going to the gym, it must be repeated over time to get lasting improvement.

In most cases, treatments are done 2 to 3 times per week for the first few weeks.
