Did you know that the VA offers no-cost Acupuncture in our office?
Veterans who currently get care from the VA can be seen in our office at no cost to them. The Veterans Access, Choice, Accountability Act (VACAA) of 2014 is a law that expands the number of options Veterans have for receiving care to ensure Veterans have timely access to high-quality care. Veterans Choice Program (VCP) provides primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care, and mental health care for eligible Veterans when the local VA medical center (VAMC) cannot adequately provide the services.
Dr. John Barnett, AP and Orlando Acupuncture are providers approved and credentialed by the VA to treat veterans in our community.
Your VA doctor will review your condition, and make an assessment of your eligibility for the Veteran’s Choice program. The most common referrals are for chronic pain (back, neck, or headaches) though we also get referrals for conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.
How to start:
Go to the VA and speak with your primary care provider (doctor or nurse). Tell them about the pain or other symptoms that you are experiencing. Explain that other treatments you have tried have not worked and ask for an “Acupuncture Consultation“. You will need to ask for our clinic by name, and if for some reason you are assigned to a different clinic you can call the number on your letter authorizing the referral and tell them that you want to be seen at our clinic. Each veteran can choose where they receive their acupuncture care, and there is a difference!
Once you have been determined eligible for the Veterans Choice Program, the VA issues an authorization and contacts our office to schedule the appointment. That’s it. If additional visits are needed we will take care of it for you.
Please call our office at 407-673-6700 if you have any questions or need help getting approval.
